Father Stanley Dudkiewicz
May 8, 1924 - January 5, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Father Stanley Dudkiewicz announces his passing on January 5, 2021. Born in Kielce, Poland on May 8, 1924, Father Stanley had to study his school material underground during the German occupation of Poland. After finishing Bishop’s High School in Kielce, he went to seminary, being ordained in 1952. Father Stanley became Associate Vicar in Wislica, then Chaplain for the Benedictine Nuns at St. Catherine’s Monastery, and later Pastor in Bolmin, Poland. He came to the United States in January of 1971 because of the revolution that was happening in Poland and initially stayed with his niece in Detroit, Mi. From there he reunited with an old friend, Rev. Casimir Krzysiak, and was invited to Utica, NY. After a two year pastoral assignment in Utica, Father Stanley came to Sacred Heart Parish in 1975 and served the parish affectionately and with great passion for 36 years before retiring. He is lovingly remembered by his niece, Anna and her husband Andrew Szczotka; his grand-niece, Marie Janeway and grand-nephew, Robert Janeway, as well as family in Poland. There will be a Transfer of the Deceased Priest to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Friday January 15th, where there will be calling hours from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with a Vigil Prayer Ceremony for the Deceased Priest, conducted at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, January 16th, at 10:00 AM at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; 927 Park Ave, Syracuse New York. Burial will be in his home town in Poland.
