Sophie E. Frigon

Sophie E. Frigon, 97, passed away Saturday at Loretto. Born July 2, 1916 to Sophia (Mateushak) and Alexander Rurka, she was a life resident of Syracuse, formerly residing on Lakeview Avenue and Apple Street. Sophie worked in the Sacred Heart School cafeteria for more than 45 years during school and church functions. Sophie's kind heart and giving nature will be missed by family and friends alike. She is survived by two sons, Raymond (Virginia) and Francis Frigon; six grandchildren and three great-children, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Giminski-Wysocki Funeral Home, 1320 W. Genesee St. in Syracuse. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery in Geddes. A special thanks to the staff at Loretto Cunningham, especially the 10th floor nurses and aides who cared for her these past 2 1/2 years.
