Richard Francis Pietrowicz Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Richard Francis Pietrowicz, 77, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Wednesday March 9th. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School. Richard faithfully served his country in the Army Corp of Engineers, where he earned a good Conduct Medal and an Expert Rifleman Award. He worked as a carpenter before going to the Westhill School District, where he worked as the Head Custodian at Cherry Road Elementary School until he retired in 2001. Richard was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He was a member and past Commander of P.L.A.V. Post #14. Richard loved fly fishing, hunting, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Mary (Trytek); his parents, Anthony and Mary (Wisowaty); his sister Ann (Pietrasik) and three brothers: Edward, Matthew, and Chester. He is survived by his devoted daughters: Michele McGrory and Theresa (Michael) Barczewski; a grandson, Charles Derouchie; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 AM Friday, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; 927 Park Ave, Syracuse; followed immediately by burial at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery; 4069 Howlett Hill Rd, Syracuse, NY.
