James S. Russell

James S. Russell, 73, passed away Friday at home with his family by his side. He was an Army Veteran and worked as a corrections officer at Jamesville Penitentiary, retiring in 2009. Jim was a member long time member of Masonic Lodge # 501 of Liverpool, Scottish Rite, Tigris Shrine, Jesters and the Q; the American Legion in Eastwood, The Arion Club and Eastern Star. He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Laura Russell and his two sisters Carol Giordano and Colleen Trumble, and a brother John Russell. James is survived by his wife Christa, brothers Douglas (Johana) of Liverpool and Melvin Jr. (Mary) of San Diego, CA; sisters Brenda Peck (Edward) of N. Syracuse, Patricia Juskow (Michael) of Cicero, Gloria Halko of Syracuse and Mary Ellen Fortino (Michael) of Westvale; two brother in laws: Samuel Giordano and Sam Trumble and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday, January 24, at Giminski-Wysocki Funeral Home; 1320 West Genesee Street in Syracuse. Masonic Services will be held at 6:30 PM. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Hospice of CNY, Shriners Hospital- Springfield, MA and the Boston Burns Hospital C/o Tigris Shriners, 1121 Milton Ave. Syracuse, NY 13204.
