Ronald Floreck

Ronald Floreck, age 89, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at his home on August 18, 2025. Son of Anthony and Helen (Glowacki) Floreck, Ron was a lifelong Syracuse resident, growing up on Lakeview Avenue, attending Sacred Heart schools and graduating from Christian Brothers Academy. He joined the Army National Guard and later the Army Reserves where he served as a medic. After earning a Business degree from Central City Business Institute he held positions in sales and other roles with various companies until joining O’Brien & Gere Engineers, Inc., from which he retired after a long career as a purchasing agent. An avid outdoorsman and talented craftsman, Ron enjoyed summer fishing trips to remote Quebec lakes with relatives and friends, annual fishing derbies on Oneida Lake and spending time on Skaneateles Lake at his summer cottage on Carpenters Point. There, he applied his handiwork, transforming the vintage home into a warm and cozy space enjoyed by his family and friends, where his care and attention to detail are felt everywhere. He was also an accomplished cook, inheriting that passion from his beloved mom, Helen. Dad lived life on his own terms and remained fiercely independent until the end. He was appreciated for his fun and sometimes off-color sense of humor, his generous laugh and quick wit. He was respected by all as a warm and engaging person, gathered many friends along his path and held a deep love for his family. He is survived by his son Paul Floreck ( daughter in law Carrie), his daughter Lisa Letizia; grandchildren Francis, his wife Lauren; Evan and Alanna; great-grandson Luca and many cousins. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Calling hours will be from 9:00AM to 11:00AM on Thursday, August 28, at Giminski-Wysocki Funeral Home at 1320 West Genesee Street, Syracuse, followed by his interment at St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Dewitt.
