Lottie Urban

Lottie Urban passed away Monday. Born in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Urban. Lottie graduated from Vocational High School and was employed by L.W. Singer company, a school book publishing firm owned by Mr. & Mrs. Leland W. Singer. Later, she worked for General Electric as a Contract Administrator, retiring in 1988 after 45 years. She was a member of the "GE Electronettes", the GE Foreman's Association, and the Quarter Century Club. She was a communicant of The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. During WWII, Ms. Urban was a member of the United States Citizens Defense Corps of Syracuse and Onondaga County. She was a member of the Nurses Aides Corps of the American Red Cross volunteer special services. Lottie enjoyed traveling to many countries over the years and had a special place in her heart for Poland. She embraced her Polish heritage and would frequently make delicious barley cabbage rolls. Lottie had a passion and "green thumb" for gardening with a big beautiful array of flowers in her backyard. She also enjoyed the game of golf in her spare time. She lived a long and healthy life! She was very blessed to have had a centenarian celebration with family and friends last year! Lottie was predeceased by her parents, and her brothers Michael, Stephen and John, and her niece, Linda. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Contributions may be made to the Felician Sisters of the Sacred Heart Convent or the Mother House in Buffalo (in care of the Felician Sisters Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent Chapel and Convent, 600 Doat St., Cheektowaga, New York, 14211) or to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church; 927 Park Ave, Syracuse, New York, 13204. The family would like to thank the dedicated staff from Elderwood at Liverpool Senior Living for the special care Lottie received there over the last several years. A very special thank you to her niece, Sandy Johnson, for all her unending love, care, support and for being at her side for many years. Lottie was a very special Aunt and was always there for her family in time of need. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for creating a safe environment, all services will be private.
